I love witnessing toddler concentration. Kids show extraordinary ability to concentrate on things when they are playing.
While people lament children’s attention spans all of the time, sometimes I think the adults are the one’s who aren’t able to concentrate. I’ve seen many times where a parent tries to break the concentration of a child and turn it to something else, only to get frustrated when they don’t want to focus… I’ve been that parent. 🙁 .
This was quite prominent on a recent trip to the Magic House, the children’s museum in St. Louis. The boys were enamored with various parts of the museum far longer than my attention span was lasting. I found myself almost laughing at myself as I fought the urge to try and rush them on to the next activity.
Whoever put a window in a bridge so little one’s could check out the traffic on the freeway below was brilliant.
