This last weekend our family traveled up to Flagstaff, AZ to speak to a homeschool group there. It was so wonderful. I love sharing with others about the joys of homeschooling and it was a special treat to get to speak alongside my hubby and fellow AFHE board member, Nancy. The kids had fun running around with the other kids. The whole scenario brought back vivid childhood memories from support group meetings in church fellowship halls… The boys made new friends and were sad to leave. I was almost late to speak to the group again on Friday for a little mini-conference when one of our tires blew out.
I can totally see why so many consider fall their favorite season. Down here in the desert, we’re just thankful for temperatures that drop below 100. But up north, the colors were simply stunning. We enjoyed the nip in the air, digging out our coats for the trip and drinking hot apple cider while playing Dominion {we’re only slightly obsessed!} with my aunt and uncle.
Inspired by all of this, I’ve decided to have a Fall {brain} Break SALE!!!! My ebook, The Ultimate Guide to Brain Breaks, is on sale this week only (until Friday) for $4.99! It’s been fun to watch the reviews pour in and get feedback from so many that enjoyed reading and implementing the breaks in my book. So if you haven’t snagged it yet, or know of a friend with a distracted child who could benefit from this book, pass the information along. Simply use the code, FallBreak, to get $3 off!
Did you know that adults can benefit from utilizing brain breaks too? Movement helps everyone! I guest posted over at Homeschool Blogging earlier this month about how I utilize brain breaks to beat writers block and overcome distraction!
Ok, off to bed. I am watching my adorable almost 18 month old nephew this week. And it is taking all of my focus to keep the toddlers out of trouble and the boat moving forward. Of course, I’ll just be getting my sea legs when his mom and dad return… That should mean I’m extra efficient next week, right?

Of course, smashing rocks was the favourite 🙂
That seems to be a big deal up here too–although it sometimes ends in smashing rock walls that aren’t meant to be damaged–oops!
I love the lessons you learn about yourself because as you “verbalize” it, I get to learn too. Boy, do I ever have expectations that get derailed again and again. Usually, they’re not as grand as yours are, but expectations, nonetheless. Like the time we walked in the woods with our clipboards, checking off the flora and fauna, only to have one child drop his clipboard and all his papers into the pond below the bridge we were on. There was no way to retrieve it. Yep, he thought that was pretty cool.

Oh your little guy always makes me laugh. And I love to hear how others traverse lessons they are learning. Networking and working through problems together as mothers is so beneficial. We certainly need community and benefit from both in-person interactions and one’s across the world wide web too!
